Tinkering At Its Finest

Super Mario Galaxy at this point has to be my favorite entry in the Super Mario series.  It boasts a variety of authentic environments, including Beach Bowl Galaxy, Honeyhive Galaxy, and Hurry Scurry Galaxy.  All of them boast their own unique challenges.  Some involve players holding their Wii remote straight up and tilting it from side to side, helping Mario roll a ball through an obstacle course to reach the hole at the end, while others have sections where you have to control Mario while he's walking upside down on a ceiling.  There are even nice little challenges like following a trail of music notes and collecting all of them in time to earn a 1-UP mushroom,. I love how the music that is playing as Mario collects the notes is from older Mario games. We get to hear the classic underground theme, Super Mario Bros' underwater theme, and the bonus game theme from Super Mario World  There are cool new power-up mushrooms, including one that allows Mario to be a bee, and one that turns him into a ghost. There are many fun boss battles, including one where you have to throw Koopa shells at a robotic skeletal fish.  The game also has one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard in any video game, bar none.  Some of the best songs in my opinion include the piano-rich music that accompanies Mario's trek through Space Junk Galaxy, and the epic orchestra that plays along to Mario's flaming hot journey through Melty Molten Galaxy.  Being the fan of cold weather that I am, one of my favorite places is Freezeflame Galaxy, the icy sections of course being my favorite parts.  The icy sections also contain my favorite version of the world's soundtrack.  Many Youtube users have talked about how amazing it is to hear both versions combined into one song.  Well, since we can safely say that anything is possible on Youtube (even asking Kate Upton to be a prom date for crying out loud), Youtube has the very thing we Mario fans clamor for.  Enjoy!!
